One for the Books - Cheating Spouse Case

Not long ago, I was hired by a woman who suspected her estranged husband was having an affair. Despite his claims that he and his mistress were merely friends, the wife's intuition told her otherwise. She discovered that the mistress was also married, and both were in the midst of divorces, attempting to take everything from their spouses. In a rare twist, I ended up being hired by both the mistress's husband and the wife of the man involved, essentially being paid to expose the same couple twice - a unique situation indeed.

After several days of surveillance and gathering a plethora of evidence, I found myself on the last day of my assignment when something extraordinary occurred. As I drove past the man's home to capture a photo of the mistress's car in his driveway, she spotted me and decided to chase me down. The mistress sped out of the driveway, nearly colliding with my vehicle, and pursued me at unsafe speeds down a narrow back road. Once I turned onto a two-lane main road, she pulled up beside me, rolled down her window, and unleased a torrent of obscenities while flipping me off. I couldn't help but to laugh as I raised my phone to snap a picture of her.

It seemed as though she was trying to provoke me into pulling over for a confrontation, but instead, I called 911 to report her reckless behavior. The dispatch operator instructed me to lead her to the police station, and surprisingly, she followed me straight into the parking lot and parked next to me. When the deputy arrived, she boasted about her brother being a sheriff in a neighboring county. The deputy calmly replied, "Your brother has no jurisdiction here." He then informed me that I could press charges if I wished, but I opted for just a copy of her statement, which clearly indicated that she was living with her boyfriend in the home where I had photographed her car. They were caught.

About a month later, I was called to testify in the divorce proceedings. It was a sweet victory to witness the look on her face as I entered the room. Prior to my arrival, her attorney had been unwavering in their demand for over $100,000 sitting in a trust account, but once they saw me, their stance shifted, and they were suddenly eager to settle. This experience is just one of many reasons to consider hiring a private investigator - yet another story for the books.
